Maybe for some their understanding of their earth marriage is so distorted by the world that not only do they treat their spouse in an ungodly manor but by extension they treat Jesus the same way

  Dave, I think you have hit on something, there. Since Jesus relationship with His Bride should be the model both men and women follow for their earthly marriages, it makes sense that if the world can distort our marriages here, then likewise our relationship with Him…and vice versa.

Amen David, Preach it dude! What I have found challenging, especially when it comes to going deeper while on the journey, is getting blokes(male Christians) to get passionate and excited about discipleship and living not just surviving. Not sure if you have experienced this. Anyway the quote and your words have caused this to come to the surface in me. Time to get creative!

I am with you on that – as a passionate guy I find it difficult to understand why people aren’t pumped up about their faith especially men – I find myself taking a deep breath and biting my tongue so I don’t say something ungracious to them
