  4. Amen to that one! God created each one of us for a purpose. Generally speaking, he has the same purpose for all of us, to turn from our sins and to turn to him to follow him and his ways (See: 1 Pet. 2:24).

    But, then he has given each one of us specific assignments from him, which are our parts in the body of Christ (Rom. 12; 1 Co. 12; Eph. 4), so we need to listen to him and hear what he has for us, and then be who he created us to be, and do what he created us to do, i.e. our specific roles within the body of Christ, not as determined by man, though, but only as determined by God, and which may or may not meet with human approval.

    Jesus’ ministry didn’t meet with much human approval, and he was often challenged, persecuted and eventually killed because he obeyed God and fulfilled his purpose in this world. And, he said we will be treated like he was treated when we follow him.

    So, we must know and understand that fulfilling the roles for which we were created does not necessarily mean we will be loved and accepted by all, but more likely we should face opposition, hate and rejection by many, and even many within the church, for Jesus’ greatest persecutors were leaders within the temple of God, not the people out in the world.
