We Need God’s Wisdom

There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12 (NIV)

Do not forget the lessons you have learned, do not live in the moments you learned them. Do not live in the past, learn from it! To accomplish this we need God’s wisdom not our assumptions to sort through life’s experiences.

  1. I like those things contained in my “life experience baggage.” It gives me things to write about. Do this (rarely). Don’t do this (a lot). But all the stories leads to keeping my eyes on Jesus and not reliving the past.

  2. Isaiah 43:18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

As you stated my Brother, we learn by the things of the past, but we don’t DWELL (live) in them! Great Word!! God bless!

    1. I find the use of the English word “forget” although it is the closest word to the original meaning creates the idea of loss of memory rather than expressing the idea of not living life as if you were that old person. I guess the way I look at this is we are to leave so far behind the way we were that it is as if we were never that way therefore we forget the ways of the past. That being said, who we are is defined by our past – how much we allow God to teach us and transform us will determine if we are stuck in the past or propelled by our understanding of the past through God’s revelation into a more Christ-like individual. Thanks for your comments – I love hearing from you! 🙂
