Although this is brought on by one event it is a call for all those who follow Christ to stop letting anyone who claims a connection to Christianity use Christianity to further their own agenda regardless of their political stripe
Note: I don’t like political stunts with a Bible – I would have, however, been comfortable if he had opened up the word of God and read “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Colossians 3:11 that would take it from a photo op to a meaningful use of scripture.
Agreed!!!!

That picture could be the difference maker in November – there will always be Evangelicals that believe Trump brings some type of Christian morals to the presidency but many are now stepping back and wondering if Mr Trump is using them, saying what itching ears want to hear, having a form for rightousness but denying its power – humility is the mark of a Christ follower not holding a Bible up for a photo shoot – what do I know I am just a dumb Canadian

If someone paired that photo with the phrase about needing to “dominate people”…that would truly sway the election results, I think.
(That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it…dominating people through God’s Word rather than through the Love Of Christ which is to flow from our hearts and loves.)

I agree about the Scripture verse you cited. Unfortunately, people can take one or two verses out of context and “prove” pretty much anything they want. (“Slaves, obey your masters.”) So for the Christian, it might behoove us to just take a good hard look at the way we’re living and ask ourselves if it reflects the love of Christ.

It is so sad that people use the Bible to say things are okay instead of using the Bible to define what is okay – love or the lack of love (Biblical love) is what makes anything okay or not okay
