Hi, I’m Dave, the author of this “About” page which means what I say on this “About” page will most likely leave you with the impression that I have the perfect life. My blog will set out to destroy that impression. I look forward to sharing my journey including my failures, frustrations and the lessons I have learned as a Christ follower, son, husband, father, grandfather (I know, hard to believe, me being so young) author and pastor.
Over the past 55 years, give or take a few months, I have received an education from the world’s classroom and an honorary degree from the school of accumulative and applied experiences. Don’t look them up on the internet or contact the government to see if these are accredited schools. They do not have a physical location or a system of accountability to make sure they are successfully preparing students for the real world.
With that warning in mind those who read my blog will get a peek into my views on Christian Life – Church Life – Church Leadership – Pastoral Ministry – Transitional Ministry and a few that don’t really fit any specific category.
My goal in this blog is to create moments in your life that make you look at your journey and wonder if you are living:
God’s plan done God’s way in God’s timing with God’s chosen resources
Who is Dave Peever? I am a follower of Jesus the Christ. My specific call is to creatively present various aspects of life as a Christ follower and as a member of a collective of Christ followers. As the executive director of Live 4 Him Ministries in Canada I used my background as an actor, director and playwright/writer as well as my music, preaching and leadership skills to assist churches in their desire to be more effective.
My time at Live 4 Him Ministries along with various pastoral roles, exposed me to hurting pastors, hurting churches and hurting people. This is the education from the world’s classroom and the honorary degree from the school of accumulative and applied experiences I referred to, and this is why I am now working with churches in transition.
Whether a church is preparing for a new pastor or the pastor and church are preparing for a new direction, my desire is to see hurts healed, stagnancy overcome and excitement return as the collective of Christ followers moves forward by answering God’s call for them.
I have been married to my wife Tina for 34 years. We have 3 boys who have spent much of their time on stage and behind the scenes both in music and in theatre. Two are married and have children of their own while the other can’t wait to use his inherited (my attempt to paint myself in a positive light) sense of humor, acting and music skills to find a wife. It will take a special woman to put up with a Peever just ask my wife and my sons’ wives.
