How often do we approach God pointing out what we have done or want to do as leverage to get Him to give us what we think we deserve?
Maybe “lost” is not quite the word. Have you used up all your marbles may be more fitting. There is an old joke told in a format I call observational humour that goes something like this: in your first year of marriage, place a marble in a jar every time you are intimate. After the first year, remove a marble from the same jar every time you are intimate. The jar will never be empty. (more…)
…the infusion of small amounts of truth into a batch of lies told over and over again until the lies themselves become truth. Propaganda is a weapon of war that should never be underestimated. If the evilest of dictators and the defenders of freedom both effectively use the twisted words of manufactured truth with some degree of success, then it would be wise to assume the Father of Lies has perfected its deployment. The Bible gives us a little understanding of how God works (our minds cannot handle more than a little). It competes with our knowledge; our way of doing things based on our limited perspective, deductive reasoning and experience. My way or God’s way, my knowledge or God’s revelation of how He works is the choice we face every moment of every day.
At a time in our history when terms like “equal opportunity employer” and “colour-blind approach” are becoming more and more the norm, I just wanted you to know that I too am an “equal opportunity employer” and take a “colour-blind approach” when it comes to my un-Christ like behaviour. (more…)
