Duty or Desire?

There is nothing more beautiful than young love. There is nothing more awkward than middle age love. There is nothing cuter than old age love. I have been two of the three and I have witnessed the third. This does not make me an expert in the field but it does allow me to write about my observations and conclusions. My Mother Used to Say…

You have a hollow leg. As far as I knew there was no empty cavity in my leg. I never bothered to ask which one, both seemed to be full of whatever it is that legs are supposed to be full of. At no time during my waking hours did I notice a change in the appearance or feeling of my leg so I was pretty sure she was wrong.

Maturing

Christ followers aren’t just along for the ride, as long as we are blessed with the opportunity to continue getting older we are also blessed with the opportunity to continue to grow in our faith.

On Whose Authority?

Position is most often the precursor of power, promotion the predecessor of prominence. That’s how the world works. It’s a simple plan, move your way up the ladder and you will become more prominent and receive more power. Only those above you can tell you what to do. Only those over you have more prestige. With each rung on the ladder you control the destiny of more people, with each step up you inherit more responsibility. (more…)

I Am a Bastard Child

I am a bastard child, I am not the result of a plan or the answer to a prayer but rather the undesired consequence of an action that led to the creation of a new life.

I am a bastard child, the unwanted result of passion not contained, one drink too many, a failure of preventative measures or an easy to manipulate unsure participant, whatever it was, nothing stopped them. (more…)

Your Will Not Mine

It’s very easy to invite God into one part of our lives or churches, to rely on Him for some decisions but not others. As long as we leave the door open for our will to be done in one area we leave the door open to our will being done in all areas. Let go let God.
