A Little Understanding – Landscape and Décor (part 6)

I am the first to admit that church can be boring.

Sometimes suffering for the gospel and attending Sunday morning church services are almost indistinguishable. For a group of people who claim to have found the key to really living, both here and for eternity, you have to wonder if death is the better choice with the way they do church. The one thing they have going for them is, there is no way you could confuse them with those who are not Christ followers. They look nothing like the world, sadly they also have trouble reaching it.

Church in other places isn’t boring.

I Studied Ballet

As a theatre major, dance was required. It didn’t bother me but it also didn’t play to my strengths. Let’s face it, wearing tights is cool if you are a superhero, not so much if you are not. Most of us had the standard issue black body suit and tights. I have long leg hair, blond long leg hair, there is nothing attractive about a no superhero, in black tights, with long blond leg hair sticking out! I’m not sure I was any good at any of the disciplines but ballet, let’s just say I was not going to be on any ballet stage unless I got lost trying to find my seat. This means I am not good at tiptoeing which means there is a good chance my attempts to talk about racism will, just as in my short ballet attempts, fall flat on my face.

God’s Word Is Not A Political Tool

Although this is brought on by one event it is a call for all those who follow Christ to stop letting anyone who claims a connection to Christianity use Christianity to further their own agenda regardless of their political stripe

Note: I don’t like political stunts with a Bible – I would have, however, been comfortable if he had opened up the word of God and read “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Colossians 3:11 that would take it from a photo op to a meaningful use of scripture.

COVID19 and Your Rights

In an active pandemic world we hear a lot about rights. At the foundation of any personal right is the assumption that being given that right is what best serves society and the individual. In other words you have the right because that right is what is right for the individual and all individuals as they live and interact with each other in society. I think that the vast majority of people define a “Christian country” as a society that allows freedoms, assigns rights only limiting them when the actions of a person will cause harm to another person. Constitutions were written and rights assigned under the belief that protecting people from being oppressed by the government or injured, displaced or otherwise interfered with by fellow citizens, must be preserved.

The Antichrist Is Here.

If you have been a Christian for any amount of time you have heard someone somewhere talking about their “prophetic” intuition into the end times. From the time of the apostles to this very day people have believed that their generation is the one that will see Christ return. Some lived/live in anticipation knowing that as much as they believe that they will be the last, it is quite possible the trumpet will remain silent. Others, whether for reasons of personal gain or fear of being wrong, have created elaborate chains of Bible verses connected to current events to lay out a case for why they are right. Then when it doesn’t happen, come up with a new chain to explain why the old chain was a misunderstanding and why this one is right. That being said…
