I don’t want to brag – no really, I don’t want to brag. As a matter of fact just saying that “I worked hard to get here,” makes me want to stop writing and delete this post. To me success has always been around the corner, one more hour of work, one more burst of energy, one more practice and then I will finally realise true success. We stood beside our desks obediently responding to the unseen and yet familiar voice from above, “please stand for the playing of the national anthem and remain standing for the reading of The Lord’s Prayer.” All was right with the world or at least our corner of the world back then, but times have changed and morals have decayed, all because we have taken prayer out of schools. It was Sunday night church at the inner city. Just when you think you have seen it all you are proven wrong. There is no predictability to interactions with those who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues. There is no way to prepare for those drawn into the service by the warmth of the building on a cold night. (more…)
