Trust me, in other words, have faith in my ability to deliver on my promise. Can you really trust them? Is there any proof that they are capable of completing the task? Is there any reason to believe they are willing or committed to fulfilling their promise? Could they just be telling you what they think you want to hear in order to gain an advantage over you? Making new disciples is not done at the expense of existing disciples – love it the mark of the Christ follower inside the church and in the community.
It was so simple when I became a follower of Christ. No one presented irrefutable evidence of the existence of God. No one debated me until my arguments seemed farfetched and their defence of biblical content undeniable. I was not challenged by polished presentations or glossy publications. (more…)
Satan whispers that God will not come through while the word of God loudly proclaims God’s love and faithfulness – sometimes a whisper is easier to hear than loud proclamations – we must choose who we will listen to.
Could it be a slip of the tongue or a window into the way they view themselves? Could it be a bad read on the audience or an inflated sense of a person’s importance? Could it be a preoccupation with the things that overwhelm them at the time or simply a preoccupation with one’s self? (more…)
A church that is going nowhere is one of the most painful things to watch. Forward motion had stopped a long time ago but no one noticed. There is always enough blame to go around. By this I don’t mean everyone has a part in the problem but instead everyone is blaming someone with the hope they themselves won’t get blamed. As numbers dwindle, the push to look outside for new attendees starts; but what type of church will they end up attending? (more…)
