If you made it past the title you are either looking for a solution to unanswered prayer or looking for a fight because the title suggests there is a way to make God answer your prayer. Look Back to Look Forward

It was June 1st of this year that I promised in my blog post Don’t Make Me Tell You Twice that I would blog about the other two times I heard God speak to me in an audible voice. I Need my Eyes Checked

We all need to have our eyes checked. No, this isn’t an ad by The Association of Optometrist and Eye Specialists (made the name up) or a reminder sponsored by a manufacturer of lenses or frames. This is me saying that how I see things isn’t always the way they actually are. What I see is limited by the flaws of my human existence and controlled by my willingness to accept that what I see is not how things really are. Is it the same way for you? (more…)

Do You Attend a Successful Church?

The annual meeting is a yearly event (annual should have given it away) that is just as much a part of the church calendar as Christmas and Easter. Unlike Christmas and Easter, the focus is not on the arrival or sacrifice of the Messiah. In most cases it isn’t about Jesus at all. Often wrapped up in Christian metaphors like ministry, tithes and offerings, attendance, outreach and many more things that we consider our mandate, the annual meeting is really a cost benefit analysis of the previous year.
