All Alone in a Room Full of People

How does this happen? How can anyone feel alone when there are so many people around? It would be easy to assume smartphones and social media are to blame. If it is not the advancements in technology causing this feeling of isolation then maybe it’s a socially awkward introverted personality that just can’t negotiate the difficulties of large gatherings. If it is not technology or personality traits that get in the way, maybe there is some kind of mental illness that creates the feeling of being alone even when surrounded by others. If it isn’t any of these reasons it could simply be the result of being a pastor. (more…)

I Am Me

Who else would I be? I can’t help being me. Every morning I look in the mirror and see the same guy. Throughout the day that same person stares back at me in the mirror. I may look frazzled or relaxed, overwhelmed or tired but essentially I am the same person. I am me. (more…)

We Have it all Wrong

Our political views and our moral stand, our line not to cross and our freedom to partake; we all have assumed at one time or another that how far we are willing to go, the ideologies we follow and the rules we live by are in line with the perfection of the God we serve.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Has Revolution Replaced Revival?

I am reposting this for two reasons. First, this has been a busier week than normal and I am fighting some sort of bug (not sure if the bug or I will win). The second, this was posted so early in my blog that many never got to see it.

Never Saw That Coming

A twist to the plot, an unexpected demand, a plan that doesn’t work, an action that produces an undesired result; I never saw that coming. Without these deviations from the expected course, books would be boring, work would be predictable, strategists would be out of a job and home video TV shows and internet video posts would be the last thing people watched.
