If you have been a Christian for any amount of time you have heard someone somewhere talking about their “prophetic” intuition into the end times. From the time of the apostles to this very day people have believed that their generation is the one that will see Christ return. Some lived/live in anticipation knowing that as much as they believe that they will be the last, it is quite possible the trumpet will remain silent. Others, whether for reasons of personal gain or fear of being wrong, have created elaborate chains of Bible verses connected to current events to lay out a case for why they are right. Then when it doesn’t happen, come up with a new chain to explain why the old chain was a misunderstanding and why this one is right. That being said…

I know for a fact that the antichrist is here.

I have seen the signs. I have heard the rhetoric. I have tried to ignore it. I have tried to get around it. It is quite frankly disturbing that the antichrist is here in our day and age. People are being fooled. People are falling prey. Good Christians are being led astray. Those who follow make good cases for following. Those who are trusted are being deceived. The lines between the Christ and the antichrist are blurred. The actions of a follower of the true Christ are being replaced by the teachings of the antichrist. There is a new right and wrong, a new truth and lies. The antichrist is here with all the power of the evil one pointing toward a self-indulgent life that serves the advancement of the individual and crowns them king or queen of their world. Self-determination, financial gain, personal fulfillment, happiness and freedom is the promise but bondage is the prize.

The antichrist has been around for a long time.

It didn’t start yesterday or one hundred years ago. I wasn’t a product of the industrial revolution or the result of post apostolic age. Christ hadn’t even walked on this earth as a man when the antichrist started out. I know it sounds silly but the Israelites experienced the antichrist and so has and will everyone from the Garden of Eden to the end of it all. The antichrist uses one question to pull people away from God. The antichrist has been asking that same question of every generation:

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say… Genesis 3:1 (NIV)

In opposition to God’s plan the antichrist asks us if God really said or really meant what He said. Then to help us along our path away from God the antichrist points out that we can be more if we just move away from that thing that God may or may not have said and tells us not to worry, there will be no consequences:

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said… “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God… Genesis 3:4-5 (NIV)

They may not have called it the antichrist but the deception was the same.

The plan of God to redeem the world required the Christ to come but the Christ was, is and always will be God in the form of Jesus. John tells us He is the word that was with God in the beginning, was God and later became a man. The rebellion of all people through time is a response to the antichrist under the influence of the more crafty serpent enticing mankind to ask if God really said or really meant what He said. Once the question is asked the antichrist (antigod) points out that we can be more if we just move away from that thing that God may or may not have said and that there will be no consequences. Mankind has chased powerless carvings and offered up burnt offerings to imaginary gods. Systems of religion have been formed that worship immorality, money and power. What is common in all of this is the serpent tempts those who have God saying that they can be more and then suggesting that this “more” is somehow what God always meant for them to have.  

The antichrist is here and we have been deceived.

Blinded by the end of times Antichrist, we miss the fact that the antichrist is anyone who preaches anti – Christ (anti – God) living. In opposition to God’s plan the antichrist asks us if Jesus (God) really said or really meant what He said. Then to help us along our path away from God the antichrist points out that we can be more if we just move away from that thing that God may or may not have said and that there will be no consequences.

…Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me… Matthew 25:37-50 (NIV)

If Jesus is truly from God then His teaching are truly of God – those who teach otherwise:

…every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus, is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 1 John 4:3 (NIV)
