I would not blame you if you started reading this post thinking it was going to be about the church practices we grew up with and the grip they can have on us. I would not be shocked if you approached my words with a “haven’t we changed enough” attitude, after all the music in church has been modernized and the dress code revised and the sermons simplified. There is no other way to put it. There are no Christianese words that will spiritualize what has taken place and will continue to take place in my Christ following life. Still, I want to feel that this is okay, that what I wonder is just part of being a Christian. (more…)
Parent go to lines are a dime a dozen; a dime a dozen is also one of my parents’ go to lines. Much of what we have learned started with some type of logic. The problem is, logic as a starting point does not guarantee logic as the foundation of the final conclusion. (more…)
