It starts with an odd sensation. The best way to describe it would be to say that there is a hair caught under the skin. It kind of tickles and kind of makes the skin feel itchy all at the same time. You can’t help yourself. You know that touching the spot is just going to make it more bothersome and scratching it will cause it to spread and inflame. Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
I often say that God is in control but just because I say it doesn’t mean I am totally surrendered. There are just some things that either seem too small to bother Him with or too big to trust Him with.
The gospel message is intended to be easily understood so that it changes the culture not easily manipulated so that it fits the culture.
In an attempt to put butts in the pews and money in the offering plate we avoid talking about suffering.
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:10-11 (NIV)
We need to listen for God’s perfect answer not for God to give us the answer we think is best.
