Don’t Call Me a Socialist

I do not share an ideology with those who would be labelled the far left. I am not a bleeding heart liberal. I do not champion big government or legislating handouts for the poor and less fortunate. Instead, I believe in the word of God and the obedience it demands. The requirement of all believers to seek justice and show grace, to demonstrate mercy and act generously. I am not a socialist, I am a Christian. I am not ideology driven I am obedience driven. I am not left or right but instead I seek to be righteous. (more…)

Stuck in a Rut

If you haven’t experienced it yet you will, trust me you will. It’s a feeling that you’ve been doing the same thing over and over again and nothing is going to change. It may be your marriage or your job. It may be your TV watching or your choice of food. Not only is it predictable but quite frankly it is boring. Change would be great but it also would be risky. For now maybe it’s best to play it safe, to be bored and predictable, at least you know what to expect. (more…)

There is Something Going On

I’m not sure what’s happening but I am sure that something’s going on. It may not be visible to the naked eye or for that matter under a microscope or through a telescope but something is happening. My mind cannot fathom it nor can my body feel it, I can’t smell it or hear it but something is happening. The outcome remains unknown and the path unrevealed but I cannot give up because God is doing something. (more…)

What Happened to My Faith?

I miss the simplicity of the beginning of my journey as a follower of Christ. The innocence and joy of knowing that I was loved and forgiven. It was not complicated. I did not rely on anything more than the cross to define my salvation and the Bible to guide my course. Those days are gone, my simple faith replaced by a pursuit of more knowledge and a desire to defend what once required no defence and explain what once was unexplainable. (more…)
