A Call To Prayer

People around the world sit in their homes waiting for good news.  They wonder how long this will last.  They wonder what they touched, who breathed on them, what dangers lurk that science has not yet discovered.  In history when countries and continents were ravaged by disease all people had was prayer.  There were no answers. Science was not that advanced. God was all they had.  When prayer was answered people recognize that there was something more than them.  But now we have medical science.  Now all we have to do is sit and wait, hunkered down in our homes until this passes.  Someone will come up with a vaccine.  Someone will discover the treatment.  All we have to do is wait.

Love Your Neighbours

The world may not be looking to the church for direction on how to live during the COVID19 pandemic but they will be looking away from the church if the only form of giving we talk about is not missing your regular tithe and offerings to the church. Many already think Christianity is all about money. It’s time to let them know Jesus said it was all about a different form of giving.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40 (NIV)

Holy S*****!

I have no idea what your first thought was when you read the title but I have to hope it grabbed your attention and caused you to want to dig deeper. I guess if it offended you rather than intrigued you, you wouldn’t have made it this far. If you want to know why I would use “Holy S*****” as a title read on but let me warn you; this post will continue to use coarse language that isn’t often used or its meaning discussed in Christian circles today.

I Asked So Many Times

Why God, why? I am not foolish enough to ask why me? The answer to why me is simple and painful, why not you? I have no super spiritual status that guarantees protection from illness and injury. I lack the required perfection that would exclude me from death and all its causes. I am not as much surprised that this could happen to me as I am caught off guard that it has happened to me. My journey seems to have lacked reason and my plight seems to be missing direction. The pain I have gone through has left me wondering, why God, why?

Gone Golfing

It is winter in Canada and even if it wasn’t you would not catch me on a golf course. Two weeks ago I said I was metaphorically going fishing (see Gone Fishing and I Am Still Fishing) to explain my break from blogging and this week I have metaphorically “gone golfing” so I can explain the latest. I know I said I was taking a break from blogging but I still would like to keep you updated as to new developments in my journey.
