Socialism Seeps Slowly Into Christian Service

It is tough to tell the difference between socialism and Christian service. It shouldn’t be, but it is. On the surface many of the programs implemented by governments to help the poor are aligned with the biblical directives about the poor. This compounded with a view that any time a government utilizes one person’s money to help another you are heading down the slippery slope into communism creates the battleground in which we find ourselves today. I live in what some Americans call a socialist country, Canada. It is interesting because most of the rest of the world would say we are capitalist. Within our country we have those who would say we are on our way to being fully socialist and possibly communist while others would say our country favours the rich and holds down the poor. As they argue over what we are and what others are, those calling themselves Christians end up trying to create a faith that fits either capitalism or socialism neither of which are defining ideologies of a follower of Christ.

Capitalism Contaminates Christian Culture Creating Congregational Confusion

Read the whole post, I beg you! I know, I know, starting out a post with begging isn’t a great look, but I had to do it. As soon as you say anything about capitalism that could in any way appear negative, you are branded a communist, socialist, Satanist, the Antichrist and possibly a Democrat. I am a Canadian so you the last one isn’t true, we don’t have that political party in my country. If you succumb to my begging and read the whole post you will find out that maybe, just maybe, my view on capitalism and the church isn’t that far off.

Job Openings

We are looking for bright individuals with proven track records in marketing. Successful candidates will have a strong grasp of product presentation to a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. Our North American branch has a long history of serving the community dating back to the first European settlers. Our parent organization has an even longer history which began around 2000 years ago in the area now known as the Middle East, starting in the country we call Israel. Our founder set out to present a new product/service, unlike any other product/service before. His product/service was met with mixed reviews but he did not waver from his plan even under the threat of death.

They Told Me I Need To Write A Blog – Follow Up

August 6th of this year I posted a blog about my writing journey called They Told Me I Need To Write A Blog. It had a tone of hopelessness because, quite frankly, I felt hopeless. A lot has changed since then. I have had people offer to help and I have gone from shelving my book “Blueprint” to working with an editor. I also have a cover designer and, when the time comes to bring it to the public, I have someone who will guide me through the process. I never thought life would change so much in a matter of weeks but then I often forget (I know better) the fact that my God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine Ephesians 3:20 (NIV). If you are wondering what this book is about, here is the newly edited Introduction in blog format as a teaser to my book launch which will take place tentatively near the beginning of November 2020.

Crazy Things You Think About Due To Anesthetic.

Today I will be undergoing the second of two procedures on my neck. These surgeries have become so routine that I can’t remember if I have had 10, 14 or maybe more of them. With two every six months it feels more like a date night (during the day) that involved too much alcohol (I am guessing as my new life in Christ means I haven’t got drunk in a very, very long time). I drive with my wife to the location. We enter the building and sit down to wait for my name to be called, kind of like you do when you have dinner reservations. After about two hours I stagger out with some help from the staff. I lean on my wife and she helps me into the car. She drives me home as I slip in and out of consciousness stopping only for red lights and coffee. With her help, I stagger into the house and lie down. Doesn’t that sound like a date that involved too much to drink?

I Am Barabbas

I do not use the name Barabbas. I have never used the name Barabbas. All of my identifying documents have no reference to this name. Any correspondence whether by old school snail mail, current standard messenger apps or business appropriate email ever suggested that I am Barabbas but I must insist, I am Barabbas. Before you contact anyone on my behalf, before you seek mental health assistance under the assumption that I am experiencing some type of mental health issue, let me remind you that you too are Barabbas.
